if one third of tank holds 80 litres of water.Find the quantity of water that half of the tank holds

Open in App
Solution

Let the capacity of the tank be x litres.
Then one third of x will be
x*(1/3)= 80 litres
x= 240 litres (full capacity)
Now we have to find half of the tank capacity
mutiply full capacity by 1/2 than we will get half tank capacity
x*(1/2)= 240*(1/2)=120 litres
So quantity of water that half of the tank holds =120 litres.
