If oogenesis occurs in Ovarian cortex then what process happens in Medullary region?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student

Ovary is divided into outer cortex and inner medulla along with hilum.
The medullary region is also called Zona vasculosa. It contains nerves, lymphatic vessels and blood vessels.
This region forms the tissue of the hilum by which the ovarian ligament is attached, and through which the blood vessels enter. It encloses loose connective tissue with several interstitial cells homogeneously distributed. It does not contain any ovarian follicles and is not thus involved in Oogenesis. Thus it is not involved in any major process but rather functions to provide a supportive connective tissue.
