The value of $- 3 p^{2} + 4 p + 7$
at $p = - 2$ is $- 3 \times {(- 2)}^{2} + 4 \times - 2 + 7 = - 3 \times 4 - 8 + 7 = - 12 - 8 + 7 = - 13$
