If P(A) = 0.4, P(AB) = 0.7 and the events are mutually exclusive, then P(B) =____________.

Open in App
Solution

Given, P(A) = 0.4
P(AB) = 0.7
P(A⋂B) = 0 (∴ A and B are mutually exclusive)
then P(AB) = P(A) + P(B) – P(A⋂B)
gives P(B) = P(AB) – P(A) = 0.7 – 0.4
Hence P(B) = 0.3 = 310
