Question

If P(A)=0.25,P(B)=0.5 and P(AB)=0.14 find probability that neither A nor B occurs. Also find P(A¯B)

Open in App
Solution

We have to find P(¯A¯B)=1P(AB) (by De-Morgan's law)
Also, P(AB)=P(A)+P(B)P(AB)
putting data we get, P(¯A¯B)=0.39
The shaded region denotes the simultaneous occurrence of A and ¯B
Hence P(A¯B)=P(A)P(AB)=0.11
