$\because$ Area of 1 square of side $1mm=1\times 1m{m}^2=1m{m}^2$ $[\because areaofsquare=(side{)}^2]$
Area of square of side $1cm=1\times 1c{m}^2=1c{m}^2$ $[\because areaofsquare=(side{)}^2]$
According to the question,
Area of p squares of side 1mm = Area of square side 1 cm
$\Rightarrow p\times 1m{m}^2=1c{m}^2\Rightarrow pm{m}^2=1c{m}^2$
$\Rightarrow pm{m}^2=(10mm{)}^2$ $[\because 1cm=10mm]$
$\Rightarrow pm{m}^2=(100mm{)}^2$
So, p = 100
