We have,
$p (x) = i x^{2} + 5 x + 8$

Put $x = - 1$ , we get
$p (- 1) = i (- 1)^{2} + 5 (- 1) + 8$
$p (- 1) = i - 5 + 8$
$p (- 1) = i + 3$

Hence, this is the answer.
