Question

If paper is a solid then why it can be fold or torn

Open in App
Solution

The force of attraction in solids is between the molecules of paper. And the extent of this force varies from solid to solid. For paper thin paper this force is small hence it gets easily folded. If the width increases then force also increases making it more difficult to fold.
I hope this helps :)
