let
$y = \frac{\sqrt{1 + cos x} + \sqrt{1 - cos x}}{\sqrt{1 + cos x} - \sqrt{1 - cos x}}$

$∴ y = \frac{\sqrt{2} cos \frac{x}{2} + \sqrt{2} sin \frac{x}{2}}{\sqrt{2} cos \frac{x}{2} - \sqrt{2} sin \frac{x}{2}}$

$∴ y = \frac{1 + tan \frac{x}{2}}{1 - tan \frac{x}{2}}$

$∴ y = tan (\frac{π}{4} + \frac{x}{2})$
