Question

If potential at a point P ( 1.1,1) is given by the relation Vp=x2+y2+2z ,then calculate the electric field at P.

Open in App
Solution

Potential is given by:

VP=x2+y2+2z

E=(Vx^i+Vy^j+Vz^k)

Vx=2x

Vy=2y

Vz=2

so,

E(1,1,1)=(2x+2y+2)

E(1,1,1)=6N/C

Electric field at point P is 6 N/C.
