If pressure becomes double at the same absolute temperature on 2 L of CO2 , then what will be the final volume of CO2?
When the temperature of a gas is kept constant, the volume of a fixed mass of gas is inversely proportional to its pressure i.e. PV = Constant
Let, initial pressure (P1) = 1 atm.
Then final pressure (P2) = 2 atm
Initial volume (V1) = 2 L
Final volume (V2) = ?
P1P2 = 12
Since, PV = Constant, P1×V1=P2×V2
V1V2 = P1P2 = 21
2LV2 = 12 ; V2 = 1L
