We have to divide Rs. 60 into two parts in the ratio 1:3.
Here, we will have divide the total amount into 1+3 = 4 parts. Out of which one part will be the first part and the rest of the three will be the second part.
$\Rightarrow$ First part is $\frac{1}{4}\times 60=15$
$\Rightarrow$ Second part is $\frac{3}{4}\times 60=45$

Difference between first and second part = 45 - 15 =30
