Question

If sinA=12, then find the value of 2secA1+tan2A.

Open in App
Solution

Consider the given data.
sin A=12=PerpendicularHypotenuse
Perpendicular =1 unit, Hypotenuse =2 unit

Using Pythagoras theorem, we get
Base =3 unit

Now,
sec A=HypotenuseBase=23

tan A=PerpendicularBase=13

So,
2sec A1+tan2 A

=2×231+132
=4343

=33

=3

Hence, the value is 3.
