Given:
tan1(x+2)+tan1(x2)=tan1(12)
tan1(x+2)+tan1(x2)=tan1(x+2+x21(x+2)(x2))
=tan1(2x1x2+4)
so,
tan1(2x1x2+4)=tan1(12)
2x1x2+4=12
4x=1x2+4
x2+4x5=0
(x+5)(x1)=0
x=5,1
sum of -5 and 1 = -5 + 1 = -4
