The nth term of a GP of first term a and common ratio r is given by
Tn=a×r(n1).

ar31=12 and ar61=96

i.e., ar2=12(1)

ar5=96(2)

Dividing equation (2) by (1), we get

ar5ar2=9612

r3=8

r=2
Thus, the common ratio of the GP is 2.
