If the actual difference in areas covered by the red and yellow region in reality is 400 sq. cm, what is scale used in the map shown?

Open in App
Solution

Area of each small square = 1 x 1
= 1 sq. cm
Area covered by the red region on the map = 5 x 1
= 5 sq. cm
Area covered by the yellow region on the map = 4 x 1
= 4 sq. cm
Difference between the areas covered on the map = 5 - 4
= 1 sq. cm
Actual difference in areas covered by the red and yellow region = 400 sq. cm
1 sq. cm on map = 400 sq. cm in reality
So, the scale used in the map is 1 cm = 20 cm.
