If the area covered by the purple square in the given figure is 2 sq. units, what is the area covered by green region in the figure?

By rearranging the purple tiles we can see,
Area of purple square = Area of two small squares
But, its given the area covered by purple square = 2 sq. units
So, Area of 2 small squares = 2 sq. units
Area of 1 small square = 1 sq. unit

Number of small squares in the given figure = 12
The area of the figure = 12 x 1
= 12 sq. units
Area covered by green = 12 - 2 = 10 sq. units
