Solution

The colourless salt (A) is AgNO3. The brown fumes are due to the evolution of nitrogen dioxide (NO2).
AgNO3+H2SO4AgHSO4+HNO3
4HNO34NO2+O2+2H2O
These brown fumes intensify on addition of copper turnings.
3Cu+8HNO33Cu(NO3)2+2NO+4H2O
2NO+O22NO2brownfumes
The blue coloured solution (B) is Cu(NO3)2.
The metal (C) is Ag.
Cu+2AgNO32Ag+Cu(NO3)2
Silver nitrate reacts with HCl to form white precipitate of AgCl, which dissolves in ammonia to form (D) [Ag(NH3)2]Cl.
AgNO3+HClAgClwhiteprecipitate+HNO3
AgCl+2NH3[Ag(NH3)2]Cl
