Find the locus based on given information

Given,

Coordinates of a variable point P are acosθ,bsinθ

From this we get the x coordinate of the point to be acosθ

From which we get

x=acosθxa=cosθ........(1)

Similarly for y coordinate of the point to be bsinθ

From which we get

y=bsinθyb=bsinθ......(2)

Squaring and adding both side of (1) and (2) we get

xa2+yb2=cosθ2+sinθ2xa2+yb2=1

Hence the locus of the point P is xa2+yb2=1
