Solution

The correct option is A 4
The Bohr radius of the nth orbit is,

rn=0.53(n2Z) ˚A

rn(n2Z) [ Z=same]

As, n=1, rn=r0

rnr0(n212)

rn=r0n2

Now, as per question,

[(n+1)2n2]r0=(n1)2r0

(n2+2n+1n2)=(n22n+1)

2n+1=n22n+1

n2=4n

n24n=0

n(n4)=0

n=0 (or) n=4

Why this question ?

The bohr radius of the nth orbit is,

rn=0.53(n2Z) ˚A

rn(n2Z)

rn=r0n2 [ r0=0.53]
