We know that if S.D. =σ, then Variance =σ2
Given, σ2σ=12
σ24σ+3σ12=0
σ(σ4)+3(σ4)=0
(σ+3)(σ4)=0
σ=3,4
As S.D. is square root of variance, it is a positive value.
So, S.D =4
And S.D + Variance =4+42=4+16=20
