8.5 cm


Since, the amplitude of the wave is measured from the mean position, it will be exactly half of the distance between the highest point of a crest and trough. So we have, amplitude as A = half of the distance between the highest point of a crest and trough

i.e. A = 172

So, A = 8.5 cm (Answer)
