Question

If the earth's magnetic field has a magnitude 3.4×105 T at the magnetic equator of the earth, what would be its value at the earth's geomagnetic poles ?

Open in App
Solution

Given B=3.4×105 T

μ04π×MR3=3.4×105

M = 3.4×105×R3×4π4π×107

= 3.4×102R3

Batpoles=μ04π×2MR3

= 107×2×3.4×102R3R3

= 6.8×105 T
