Question

If the edge of a cube is triples, find the ratio of surface area and that of volumes of two cubes.

Open in App
Solution

volumewill be 27 times

reason..

old volume ….. x^3

new volume… (3x)^3

i.e. 27* x^3

on dividing , we get the answer 27

Surface area of old =6×X^2

There is 6 faces for a cube

Surface area of new=6×(3X×3X)=6×9×X^2

On dividing both we get new cube is 9 times larger than the old
