Question

If the 'Inactivation gates of sodum' are closed and 'potassium voltage gated channels' are open, in what phase is what phase is the 'action potential' in your body?

Open in App
Solution

The action potential is in the repolarization phase.
When the membrane is depolarised, the potassium voltage gated channels are open and the potassium ions and the sodium ion gates are completely inactivated. This causes repolarization to occur slowly and the membrane potential is again attained to -70 mV.
