Question

If the lateral surface of a cylinder is 94.2 cm2 and its height is 5 cm, then find
(i) radius of its base
(ii) its volume.(Use π =3.14)

Open in App
Solution

Let the radius of cylinder is r cm
Given:
Height =5 cm
Lateral or curved surface area =94.2 cm2
(i)
Curved surface area of the cylinder of radius r and height h is 2πrh
2πrh=94.2
2πr×5=94.2
r=94.22×3.14×5
r=3 cm

(ii)
Volume of a cylinder of radius r and height h is πr2h
Volume =3.14×3×3×5
Volume =141.3 cm3
