If the length of a chord of a circle is $16cm$ and the distance of the chord from the centre is $6cm$. Find the radius of the circle.

Chord of circle = $16cm$

Distance of it from centre = $6cm$

We draw a perpendicular line to chord.

We know that, a perpendicular line drawn to chord, bisects (at pt. M). Consider centre of circle to be O & AB is diameter

$AM=8cm$

$\therefore$ By pythagoras law, in $\Delta OMA$,

$O{A}^2=O{M}^2+A{M}^2$

$O{A}^2=6^2+8^2$

$O{A}^2=100$

$OA=10cm$

Radius of circle is $10cm$
