If the line $3 x + 2 y = 6$ passes through a point $(4, y)$ , find $y$ and also find two more equations of the lines passing through this point

Solution

$(4, y)$ lies on $3 x + 2 y = 6$
$3 (4) + 2 y = 6 ⟹ y = - 3$
$y = m x + c ⟹ c = y - m x = - 3 - m (4) = - 3 - 4 m$
$y = m x - 3 - 4 m$
$m = 1 ⟹ y = x - 7$ and $m = - 1 ⟹ y = - x + 1$
