The correct option is B $2 \sqrt{2}$
From the given equations, we get
$m^{2} + a m + 2 = 0$
Since, $m$ is real , $a^{2} \geq 8$
$\Rightarrow | a | \geq 2 \sqrt{2}$
so, least value of $| a |$ is $2 \sqrt{2}$
