Question

If the mass of a solid is 31.2 g and if the initial and final volume of water level in a graduated cylinder when immersed is 52 ml and 48 ml respectively, find the density of the solid .Convert that into kg/m3.

Solution

Dear Student,

We know that,
Density = Mass/Volume
Here, volume= Final volume - Initial volume
Therefore using this formula;
Density = 31.2g/52mL-48mL
= 31.2/4
=7.8g/mL
In order to convert g/mL into kg/m3 we multiply the result with 1000,
= 7.8g/mL *1000 = 7800 Kg/m3
