Question

If the mass of the moving object is decreased 1/4th of it's mass and the velocity is increased to twice its previous velocity,what will be the kinetic energy of the object from the following

Open in App
Solution

Kinetic Energy = 1/2 m v^2

Let the initial mass be m and initial velocity be v

Initial Kinetic Energy = 1/2 m v^2

______________________

Final mass = m/4
Final velocity = 2v

Final Kinetic Energy = 1/2 × m/4 × (2v)^2

=> 1/2 × m/4 × 4v^2

=> 1/2 × m × v^2

=> 1/2 m v^2

________________________

Since Final and Initial Kinetic Energy is coming to be equal i.e. 1/2 m v^2 there will be no change in the Kinetic Energy.
