Scores are 1, 2, x, 4, 5 and median = 3

Here n = 5 which is odd.

$\therefore Median=\frac{n+1}{2}thterm=\frac{5+1}{2}=\frac{6}{2}th$

$\Rightarrow$ 3=3rd term = x

$\Rightarrow$ 3 = x

$\therefore$ x = 3

Mean of the score $=\frac{1+2+3+4+5}{5}=3$
