Solution

Let A(x, y, z), B(x2, y2, z2) and C(x3, y3, z3) be the vertices of the given triangle ABC and Let D(1, 2, –3), E(3, 0, 1) and F(–1, 1, –4) be the mid-points of sides BC, CA, and AB respectively,
figure
i.e x1+x32= 3
y1+y32= 0 and z1+z32= 1
i.e. x1+x3= 6 y1+y3= 0 z1+z3= 2 ...1
Similarly, x1+x22= -1, y1+y22= 1, z1+z22= -4 ....(2) and x2+x32=1, y2+y32=2, z2+z32=-3 ....(3)

i.e x1 + x2 = –2, y1 + y2 = 2, z1 + z2 = – 8 and x2 + x3 = 2, y2 + y3 = 4, z2 + z3 = – 6
∴ Centroid has co-ordinates x1+x2+x33, y1+y2+y33, z1+z2+z33
i.e 2x1+x2+x36, 2y1+y2+y36, 2z1+z2+z36i.e x1+x2+x2+x3+x1+x36, y1+y2+y2+y3+y3+y16, z1+z2+z2+z3+z3+z16
i.e from (1), (2) and (3), we get
Coordinate of centroid
= 6-1+16, 0+4+26, 2-8-66= 1, 1, -2
i.e coordinate of centroid is given by (1, 1, –2)
