Hydration of D results in addition of $H_{2} O$ .
Formula of compound E becomes $C_{10} H_{18} O$
On comparing with $C_{x} H_{y} O_{z}$ , we get $x = 10, y = 18, z = 1$
Hence, $(y - x - z) = 18 - 10 - 1 = 7$
