Question

if the net unbalanced force on an object is zero, then the total momentum of the object is:

a)zero

b)variable

c)constant

d)information not suffecient

Solution

If Net Unbalanced force is zero then its acceleration is also zero ( as force = mass × acceleration). As we know acceleration = (v- u )/t. As acceleration is zero so , (v-u ) i.e change in velocity is also zero.
Also total momentum , p = m (v-u)
as (v-u ) = 0 so p is also zero.
