if the north and north repels and south and south repels then if we take a magnet and keep it near a compass in the direction of north and south the needle of the compass turns and the North of the needle points to the north of the magnet. Why is it not repelling ?

Dear Student ,
North pole-north pole repel each other and south poles repel each other.Magnetic needle always suggests us the direction of the geographic north and direction of the geographic south.You are here confused with geographic and magnetic south.So do not confuse with the directions.
