Solution

We have seen that line is a ray which is never ending thus it doesn't have any ends to it. So, Number of ends in a line = $0$ = $X$ .

Also, we have seen that the line segment is a line which is of finite length and have two endpoints to it. So, Number of ends in a line segment = $2$ = $Y$

We have asked to find the value of $Y - X$ .

$\Rightarrow Y - X = 2 - 0 = 2$
