Question

If the perimeter of a regular hexagon is x metres, then what is the length of each of its sides?

Open in App
Solution

Perimeter of a polygon is the total length of the boundary i.e. total distance around a closed shape.

In a regular hexagon, there are 6 equal sides.
Let the length of each side be a metres.

Then, perimeter of hexagon
= a + a + a + a + a + a = 6a

Given that, perimeter = x meters
So, 6a = x
a = x6
Hence, each side of the hexagon is x6 metres.
