$∵$ Point (a, 2) lies on the graph of the linear equation 2x - 3y + 8 = 0

$∴$ It will satify it

$∴$ Now substituting the values of x and y

$2 \times a - 3 (2) + 8 = 0 \Rightarrow 2 a - 6 + 8 = 0 \Rightarrow 2 a = - 2 \Rightarrow a = \frac{- 2}{2} = - 1 H e n c e a = - 1$
