$\Rightarrow a(a^2-d^2)=224\cdots \left(1\right)$

$(a+d)$ is largest
$a+d=7(a-d)\Rightarrow 6a=8d\Rightarrow d=\frac{3a}{4}\cdots \left(2\right)$
Using equation $\left(1\right)$,
$a(a^2-\frac{9a^2}{16})=224\Rightarrow 7a^3=224\times 16\Rightarrow a^3=32\times 16=2^9\Rightarrow a=2^3=8$
