Question

If the resistance of a wire is more does it produce more or less heat when current flows through it

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student ,
As the heat produced in a wire due to flow of current through the wire is directly proportional to the resistance of the wire so when resistance is higher then the heat produced in the wire will be larger .
As we know that according to Joule's heating law , H = Iā€‹2Rt
So , heat produced is directly proportional to resistance (R) . So heat produced will be higher .
