If the selling price of 18 oranges is equal to the cost price of 16 oranges, find the loss percent.

S.P of 18 oranges = C.P of 16 oranges
=Rs. 100 (Suppose)
$\therefore$ S.P of 1 orange $=Rs.\frac{100}{18}=Rs.\frac{50}{9}$
and C.P of 1 orange $=Rs.\frac{100}{16}=Rs.\frac{25}{4}$
Loss = C.P - S.P $=\frac{25}{4}-\frac{50}{9}$
$=\frac{225-200}{36}=Rs.\frac{25}{36}$
$Loss\%=\frac{Loss\times 100}{C.P}=\frac{25}{36}\times \frac{100\times 4}{25}=\frac{100}{9}\%=11\frac{1}{9}\%$
