Question

If the source and receiver are at rest relative to each other but the wave medium is moving relative to them, will the receiver detect any wavelength or frequency shift. Answe 1/2 for yes/no

Solution

When there is a relative motion between source and receiver , the apparent frequency is given by ,
f=f(v±vrvvs) ,
if the medium is also moving in the direction of sound waves then apparent frequency is ,
f=f(v+vm±vrv+vmvs) ,
if vs=vr=0 , (source and receiver are at rest )
then f=f or ff=0 , it means no frequency shift (or wavelength shift) , answer is 2.
