If the squares have length of 1 cm, what is the area of this rectangle?

The correct option is A 96
We can find the area of the rectangle in two ways:

First Method:
We know the squares have unit length, i.e., 1 cm so if we count the total number of squares that fit inside the rectangle we will get its area.

For this case we can see 96 squares fit into this rectangle. So it's area will be 96 square cm.


Second Method:
We will count the number of squares against the length and breadth of the rectangle and we will then multiply this to get the area.

For, example in this case, the number of squares that fit lengthwise into the rectangle is 12


Similarly, the number of squares fitting breadth wise into the rectangle is 8.



So, the area =12×8=96 square units
