Solution

The correct option is C Pepsin

Pepsinogen is the proenzyme of pepsin. It is released by the chief cells in the stomach wall. Pepsinogen mixes with the hydrochloric acid in the gastric juices and gets activated to become pepsin. Hence, if the stomach does not produce HCl, pepsin will not be formed from pepsinogen.
