Here, $r=PQ$

$Q$ lies on $\sqrt{3}x-4y+8=0$
$\Rightarrow \sqrt{3}(\sqrt{3}+\frac{\sqrt{3}r}{2})-4(2+\frac{r}{2})+8=0$
$\Rightarrow 3+\frac{3}{2}r-8-2r+8=0$
$\Rightarrow \frac{r}{2}=3$
$\Rightarrow r=6$
$\therefore PQ=6$
