Question

If the sum of ages of father and his son in years is 45 and thrice the difference of their ages in years is
same as sum of ages . Find the age of father .

Dear student,
let the ages of father x.
and Son be y
ATQ
x + y = 45.............1)
3 ( x - y ) = x + y.
3x - 3y = x + y.
3x - x = y + 3y.
2x = 4y.
x = 2y...........2).
Substitute 2 in 1.
2y + y = 45.
3y = 45.
y = 15................3).
Now, substitute 3 in 2.
x = 2 ( 15 ).
x = 30.

As per our consumption:-
Fathers age = x = 30 yrs.
Sons age = y = 15 yrs.
