Let the numbers be x and x + 2. Then
x2+(x+2)2=100 or x2+x2+4x+4=100
or 2x2+4x96=0 or x2+2x48=0
or x2+8x6x48=0 or (x+8(x6)=0
i.e, x=6 or x=8
Therefore, the numbers are 6, 8 or -8, -6.
