Question

If the temperature of a substance is increased, what will be the effect on its density?

Open in App
Solution

  1. The mass of an object does not vary with the temperature and remains constant.
  2. The volume of an object varies directly with the temperature.
  3. We know, density(D) = Mass( M)/ Volume (V)
  4. Thus, density varies inversely with the volume of any object.
  5. Hence, the density of an object decreases with an increase in its volume due to a rise in the temperature of the object and vice versa.
