The given figure consist of one rectangle and two similar right angle triangles.


Hence,
Total area = Area of rectangle ABGH + Area of triangle BCD + Area of triangle EFG

Area of rectangle ABGH = length×width
=20×25 =500 sq. in

Area of Δ BCD = Area of Δ EFG
=12×base×height
=12×y×18

So,
662=500+2×12×y×18

662500=y×18

162=y×18

16218=y

y=9 in
